WHY?
The boy's voice change is unique. Voice change can occur any time between the ages of 9 and 15 and can last days or months. Voice change is normal. Frustration is common during the voice change. In a "guy-only" group, boys can “be themselves” and sing in a safe, comfortable environment. In an all-male setting, boys are less self-conscious and singing through the voice change is easier. Research shows that encouraging boys to sing gives them greater confidence in themselves, a sense of accomplishment and pride. Singing, combined with sports and cultural activities, helps boys become disciplined and well-rounded young men.
